I graduated from Massey university in 1986 , and headed with bursting enthusiasm to the sunny town of Opotiki, Bay of Plenty, doing mixed practise, with a strong dairy leaning. A year or so later, the big O.E called and away I went to locuming in the U.K. and travelling the world for 3 years. It was there I met my husband Rob ( a sheep farming kiwi!!) who I came home to NZ with 1 year later. We now live and I practise at North Canterbury Vet Clinics, Culverden - a busy 5 vet practise, servicing approx 40,000 cows, again with a strong dairy emphasis in my workload. In 2003, I joined the Intelact dairy consultancy group, and now my weeks include part-time veterinary work, part-time dairy consultancy, part-time farm assistant!! on our 530 ha Dairy, sheep, and cropping farm, and finally "managing" our 3 busy, rugby-mad lads, aged 12, 11, and 9 years.
Regarding my involvement with the DCV - I feel committed to adding something back to the profession, and aiming to ensure we all stay as " burstingly" enthusiastic as we were in our earlier years through addressing continuing education, empowerment/upskilling and retention/recruitment issues.
